I write and perform poetry and host The New Libertines, a spoken word show that’s played to full houses across the UK. I write short stories and novels and have a regular column in the magazine Words With Jam. I also run eight cuts gallery, a literary project that promotes the very best writing I find. Have fun exploring this site where you can read my poems and stories, watch videos, find me on the web, and buy my books. You can also find details of my shows, news, and the places I hang out.

Last Man Out Of Eden, poetry pamphlet and album out June 12, 2012. THE EBOOK IS OUT NOW – JUST £1
I’ll be recording the album live at the Albion Beatnik Bookstore in Oxford on June 8th from 7.30pm. Please come! It’s free.
A collection of poems about hope in the face of disappointment, with a lyrical confessional style that takes in equal amounts from Ferlinghetti, Tracey Emin, and Patti Smith’s Just Kids. These poems celebrate the healing powers of time, non-violence, and remembrance but above all carry a simple message:

Celebrate the lives of those you love because one day they won’t be with you any longer and you’ll be left writing poetry about how you wish you’d loved them more.

Shows coming soon
May 6 – ARTournament, New Inn, Gloucester -  performing and hosting the spoken word stage
May 12 – Swindon Slam
May 16 – Flash Slam, Oxford
May 23 – Our Colloquial Past – Literature Lounge at the Covent Garden Poetry Cafe

June 12 – Oxford Hammer & Tongue Slam Final
June 24 – Worcester Literary Festival Slam

Dan, I just stopped by to say huge thanks for the links to your terrific articles about blogging that appeared in Words With Jam. They answered all my questions and many more I didn’t know I’d have. So I’m now in the process of setting up a new blog, which is turning out to be not entirely beyond me, thanks to you!

  2. Dan!
Checking out your page! Glad I found you!
One question…what’s with the fishnet arm thing? Is there a story behind it? There must be. Thanks for following MY page…maybe It will make me write more if I know there ARE people watching! :)

Arnie, there certainly is. I wore it to my launch for no particular reason, and my internet avvie (the one on my Amazon page) was taken there. I then wore it again to my next reading (again no particular reason) and someone who’d come all the way from Germany came up and told me they knew they were in the right place because they recognised the glove through the venue window. Now I can’t perform without it. I also always wear a Dead Weather T-shirt :)

  4. Dan!
So now your stuck wearing a trademark a fishnet glove! Ok, so if I ever get to London…I’ll be able to find you! OK–new question, What is Dead Weather? or should I say who are Dead Weather?

    Arnie

You will indeed!! It’s funny how these things start. I have a feeling most traditions, however grand, styart with an accident.

The Dead Weather is Jack White’s new band http://thedeadweather.com/ :)

Thanks for your comment on my site—added you to my blogroll, too. I like those shoes (Agnieszka’s) and I like your manifesto.

Thank you, Marcus – I’m very much enjoying looking around your site, which is absolutely full of gems. I also look forward to getting to know you a little better at Fictionaut next year – this year has been absurdly busy, but next year the aim is to balance things a little more, so I hope to spend more time there :)

    Hello Dan
I am reading, and very much enjoying, The Company of Fellows on my iPad. However, I am increasingly irritated by missing or misspelt words. This is not something I have ever noticed with other downloaded books, and I wondered whether you were aware of it.
